More than 260 guests joined us for our Taste the World Party on the 21st of June, to celebrate Refugee Week.
The party offered the opportunity to connect with cultures from around the world living here in Nottingham. Guests sampled meals from our brand-new Café Narjis cookbook, edited by Emily Stammers and Emily Heaven. (If you’d like to order a copy of the book, please email us at fundraising@nottsrefugeeforum.org.uk).
“Café Narjis is at the heart of the forum and is a space where people share food and recipes every day. Creating a cookbook seemed the perfect way to celebrate all the diverse and delicious recipes.” – Emily Heaven
Special guests included Arnold Fire Station, Iranian artists Elaheh Raofi and Parham Ghalamdar, Soil Recipe Exhibition by Ignite Futures, DJ Sholley and artist Nick. Guests of all ages took on a dance challenge and explored what “Home” means to them through painting. Children (and grown ups) had a great time exploring our beautiful garden with a treasure hunt.
“It was so lovely to share the outcomes of the Hidden Figures project and celebrate coming together throughout this project with visitors to the Taste the World Party. The Healthy Soil exhibition will be on show over the summer in the community garden at Nottingham Refugee Forum.” Ignite Futures
Thank you to everyone who made the event a success: volunteers, staff and community partners!
