I received a positive response not only from my close friends and family but also from people who hadn’t heard about Nottingham Refugee Forum and were interested in supporting refugee charities to combat the negative rhetoric in media and government in recent years. It provided me with donations but also helped to spread awareness of the challenges faced by refugees and asylum seekers.
